Meet Our Team

Geldard Sherrington Lawyers was established in 2006 and has been proudly serving the Hervey Bay community ever since…

Since our inception we have maintained a strong focus on personalised service and delivering results. We know when it comes to matters of the law that a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach is not conducive to achieving positive results. For this reason we take the time to really listen and take on board your problem.

Solicitors

Justin Geldard
Principal
Justin was admitted as a solicitor in 2000 and has been practising ever since, building his knowledge and expertise. His studies were completed at QUT in Brisbane where he graduated with a double degree in Law and Banking (majoring in both Business and Finance). Although highly skilled in all facets of law, Justin takes a special interest in Family Law, Personal Injuries, Succession Law and Criminal Law.

His career in law originally began in Brisbane, before Justin relocated to Hervey Bay in 2002 where he currently resides with his wife Ellen and their three children. Justin has immersed himself in the local community and is the president of the Hervey Bay Cricket Association, a Board Member of the local Bendigo Bank branch and a founding member of a local not-for-profit organisation “Rally For A Cause”.
Shani Mitchell
Partner
Shani was admitted as a solicitor in 2016 after completing her law degree with USQ. She grew up in Bundaberg, relocating to Hervey Bay after finishing high school where she currently lives with her husband and their young son. Shani initially acquired a job in a local law firm as a receptionist, where her love of the legal sector began and she was inspired to pursue becoming a solicitor. While she enjoys all aspects of law, Shani has a special interest in Family Law and Commercial Law.

Shani undertakes Legal Aid matters, and dedicates her time to various domestic violence support networks in the community. She also volunteers at the Taylor Street Community Legal Service.
Virginia Ukpabi
Solicitor
Virginia joined Geldard Sherrington Lawyers after completing her Juris Doctor at Griffith University, where she received the Griffith Awards for Academic Excellence, and obtaining her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. She was admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in early 2022.

Prior to her admission, Virginia gained experience working as a law clerk at one of Queensland’s largest private criminal defence firms, and as a legal researcher for the Griffith University Innocence Project.

Virginia works closely with our firm’s partners on criminal, family and domestic violence matters.
